Fielding Homes
Overview
Fielding Homes began as an ambitious idea inside Crescent Communities: a new single-family homebuilding brand built to elevate the modern master-planned lifestyle and eliminate the cost of outsourcing construction. I was brought in at the ground floor to create the full brand identity.
The result became more than a successful brand launch. Fielding Homes grew into a high-equity, premium builder whose presence and perception helped attract major acquisition interest. In 2018, the company — along with its brand assets — was acquired by Sumitomo Forestry America, Inc., and integrated into the DRB Group (Dan Ryan Builders) portfolio to strengthen their higher-end offering and expand into fast-growth markets.
This case study outlines how thoughtful brand identity contributed to Fielding Homes’ business performance and its ultimate strategic value.
Challenge
Crescent Communities needed a brand that could compete against national and regional homebuilders while maintaining a sense of intimacy, craftsmanship, and lifestyle storytelling. The typical builder identity in the Carolinas skewed generic: safe fonts, predictable palettes, and transactional messaging.
They needed a brand with warmth, authority, and a lifestyle-first narrative — something resonant enough to support quick market expansion and strong enough to attract acquisition interest.
